 Fire Officer Programs

      Mandatory Fire Officer 1 Fire Instructor 1 training assignments to achieve NJ DFS Fire Officer Requirements are as listed.  Logistical allocations must be addressed to prepare and accomplish compulsory training curriculum. All required study material and required text must be purchased. 

      Programs listed meet NJ DFS, ProBoard & IFSAC Training Standards and Insurance Services Office (ISO) Class ranking Training Requirements. Personnel must have a NJ DFS FFID # and a FEMA SID# as per directive by NJ DFS. The Fire Office and Fire Instructor programs are ProBoard / IFSAC endorsed and all of the listed courses must be fully attended and completed.  All personnel must pass both skills and written examinations for certifications to be compliant.

     On The Job Fire-Rescue requires all personnel to report for duty as ordered, in proper uniform and respectfully follow the officer’s code of conduct throughout the program.

  • NJ DFS Fire Fighter 1 certification

  • NJ DFS Fire Fighter 2 certification

    • Required for full FO1 certification

  • Hazardous Materials-Awareness & Hazardous Materials-Operations

NJ DFS Fire Officer 1 Course Requirements; NJ Fire Officer Standard / NFPA 1021 & 1041;

  • Fire Instructor 1                                                              45-Hours; 1-week , 5 day detail

  • NJDFS Drill Ground Instructor                                     8-Hours; Integrated with Fire Instructor 1 program

  • NFA Incident Safety Officer                                           16-Hours; 2 day detail

  • NFA Fire Tactics Series ( FEMA/STICO)                     24-Hours equivalent endorsed by NJ Division of Fire Safety 

  • NJDFS Building Construction for the Fire Service  12-Hours equivalent endorsed by NJ Division of Fire Safety
